Dear all,

Is it possible (using currently 4.2 beta 1) to have the latest forum posts with the latest avatar picture who posted it? Nor really super crucial but we run a community site with more than 1000 members and having avatars on the frontpage would make it more attractive and increase the eye-candy factor.

Any help including the code snipet to paste would be highly appreciated!!

no, thats not currently possible… you could probably edit the template tag and add that in, but might need to worry about the size… can open a ticket for future consideration since this is like the third time someone has asked…

is it not possible to built something similar in php with the shortcodes which you provide within simple press. E.g. it is already possible to use the forum-avatar outside of the forum, e.g. in the author-box of a post.

I dont understand what you are saying…

you would need to modify the template tag to output the avatar. remember you need to know the poster of the latest topic being displayed…

true so. The problem is that it needs to be looped. I just thought it would be possible to add to the existing "latest post" widget the template tag sf_show_forum_avatar($email, $size=0). But the $email must be linked to the latest member who posted on the post.

that 'might' work if you modified the query to make sure you had the email… might be easier to direct call the avatar display function (that which the avatar template tag you reference calls anyway)… need to worry about the size too… most avatars are too big – would want to offer size option with default of pm size…

as I said, I opened a ticket and plan to take a quick look at it this weekend and see if its real easy as I suspect… If so, might be able to get it into beta 2… If its involved, wont make large changes at this point in the 4.2 dev cycle…

if this holds up to testing, looks like it will make it into 4.2 beta 2…  committed the changes just a few moments ago…
