Is there an option to deny guest links from being posted? Or at least, transforming the HTTP part of the link to something like HxxP automatically? I'm afraid that my forum will become a spammer's heaven.
we dont have a spammer problem primarily because of the math anti spam question… for guests, just make them have to do the math anti spam question…
that said, in 4.1, you will be able to auto reject a post that contains more than an admin specified number of links…

Actually, the math question doesn't seem to stop the robot that's been attacking my install.
It's obviously a robot, because there are 250 new identical posts within a matter of minutes.
I've been searching the forums here for some nugget, but can't seem to find a solution.
Here's my situation…
I have a forum setup that is only open to members except for one named "Presale Questions". This is where guests can post questions without being a member.
A few weeks ago however, someone setup a robot to post ads to their crappy store.
I tried setting permissions to moderate, however it still seems to let them post 250 message without hinderance. Doesn't prevent anything.
Rather than locking the forum and not allowing legitimate guests to post, I'd like an alternative to block the spammer. The math question does not do the job.
Is there anything in the works to help this?
captcha?
velocity filter?
60 second timed limiter?
Thanks…
interesting as the math questions stops thousands here… and if you have the posts in moderation, they wont show up until you approve. yes, you have to go through them…
currently, nothing else in the works as this is the first report of spam getting into the forum when the math question was being used. we do have an open ticket for incorporating akismet, but its not on the roadmap for the next couple of releases for the same reason.
we are actually considering for 4.2 an admin option for a min time between posts – not because of spam but because of duplicate posting on some of the slower shared hosts. It would serve your purpose too.
will discuss with Andy as we are about to release 4.2 into beta.
