I'm using the User Photo plugin to let users upload their own profile photo for the site. How can I get this work with the Simple Press image shown next to posts and threads?

Thanks

I don't anything about the User Photo plugin but wouldn't they be a bit big to use as avatars? if it's any help, the forum profile can be used for avatars AND photos if the admin allows it…

The plugin is great as it does resizing for the profile. I had a look through the forums and found this:

But unfortunately I couldn't follow the directions. Any chance that this user is still about to ask for more detail?

what do you want to do with the photos they uploaded? show them in a forum post? could be possible but dont know the interface. if you want to show them in the profile, that would require code modifications. please elaborate…

At the moment what I want to do is show it in the posts and not have the users upload their user image to a seperate profile. Ideally I want to merge the profiles of SPF and WP completely so that there is only one (I have a seperate thread about showing the threads started and posts made by a user on the author page).

I'm not entirely sure how the User Photo plugin works, but I have not had to amend any code to get the photos to show in the place of gravatars in my site's theme so I guess that it is tapping into the main WP avatar routine.

Thanks

If this plugin is 'binding' itself to the WP avatar settings then perhaps settng the forum avatars to the 'wp' option may be your answer. Like you, I am not familiar with how it works either but that may be worth a try. So I would set the WP as the first avatar selection option and see what happens.

That may well do the trick. I've had a look but I can't see an option to use the WP avatar. Can you point me in the right direction? Thanks.

On the latest release version it should be on the forum > options > global options. Are not the avatar settings there?

Well that's both good and useful to know. It's nice when things get done properly and work as they should. Thanks for the update.
