Help with converting phpBB to simple:press

Hi all, not sure where to post this but hopefully in here is ok.

Our website currently runs on phpBB, something we've LONG wished to change – if only simple:press had been around years ago when we first started out! We desperately want to convert our forum to simple:press and integrate it with our main website, which runs on WP.

We have 11,000 members (although a large amount could easily be purged if required to reduce DB size) in the forums and 1,500 users on the main WP website. Some usernames obviously cross-over which may be a problem?

Basically, how do we go about merging/converting the two? Is there any reliable companies who may be able to do this for us? Or indeed can any of the support staff help with this and we can pay them personally as well as making a donation to simple:press.

Thanks in advance if you can help,

Matt

there currently is not a converter for such though several people had gone off to do such, but none have reported back. its certainly possible, with the hardest part being the user db conversion.

perhaps some will take you up on your offer for a paid converter.

Thanks for the reply Mr Papa! It's a shame there is no converter as phpBB is such a pain and we really want to move to simple:press somehow.

If there is anyone with the expertise and knowledge to help us please get in touch.

Looks like this isn't possible then!

Can vbulletin be converted to simple:forum? If so we could convert phpBB to vbulletin then that to simple:forum?!!

We migrated from postnuke w/ phpbb14 to wordpress and spf. I doubt our converter is of use to anyone, because phpbb14 for postnuke is rather bent on a db table level, but it was possible without too much effort.

Just do a clean install, generate forums, users and a few topics, then look at the db tables of both the old and new system. I am told it wasn't too hard. Only challenge i think was the sorting/order of articles within the same topic.

Still impressed. I hope you can settle down with SPF for a while!

I'm surprised there isn't any sort of converter for these popular pieces of forum software.

Is there any hope of converting phpBB to Simple:Press?
