Hey, Im starting a post in hope others will agree to this feature.

Advantages of having a Profile page:-

- The profile page can be edited to allow other APIs, such as Twitter, flick, facebook, opensocial …

- It creates a direct Link to a member, which is important especially when the profiles represent the person to companies and potential customers.

- Users have the aspect of Customization, which is really important in a community site.

- The Javascript pop-up may be hard to edit.

- Profiles become a fun part of the site to design.

Great work, very excited about this!

Anything the site has, can associate iteslf with each member. I need each member to have his designs shown on his profile page, and all sorts of other stuff. I find it really important to thave this in, the javascript pop-up really does limit everything.I hope this one makes it on the next version guys, everything else looks perfect.

Please take a look at this: http://community.mtv.com/profi…..moreroxz67

http://community.mtv.com/profi…..moreroxz67 it has the photos on and that sort of stuff, also does SPF intergrate with any galleries ?

you have seen the current profile page (not the popup), correct? I realize it doesnt do everything you refer to.

As to image galleries, I know next gen gallery works well… frankly, and gallery plugin that utilizes shortcodes "should" work fine. the shortcode will get passed through the post content and display normally.

yeah, im talking about when you click on someones profile to check them out, and a popup comes up, which is not good for linking each other, instead of that javascript pop-up can we have a conventional html page to see peoples details… im not talking about the page where you edit your profile, becuase thats perfectly fine.

cheers

What this will mean is, extra form fields on the "edit profile" page. You could add 5 extra to the user database or whatever, for me and other developers to change into fields for social sites.

So 5 extra fields for each user will allow us, on the new "view profile" page to draw up APIs from Twitter, Last.fm, Facebook, Flickr, DeviantArt

Which would mean on the new "view profile" page, users can show off there flickr pictures, or there latest twitter message…. or there faviroute albums from last.fm etc…

this would make the forum a very Social plugin.

I hope you really consider this, infact as i was reviewing it I though that this was the only downfall of the forum.

I really appreciate all your hard work, as this script really does beat BuddyPress in turms.

You can create as many new fields within the profile as you wish – (Manage Components).
I am ashamed to say I do not know what BuddyPress is..

… well you dont know how good your product really is than admin. If you'll allow me, id like to support you guys in the summer. Re-design a logo and such… check out my portfolio at :-

http://www.swaymedia.com

anyway what im talking about seems easy to do for myself, but id rather let someone who knows the entire script to do it, becuase its just a case of adding a new page and blah blah, but i really think it should be in the next release as its a vital selling point of my site, which is about social networking in a forum, not so much about discussions.

regards,

sway.

Hi everyone,

trying out SimplePress on a yet to publish wordpress site, I stumbled over the profile for users. It seems this will receive a major overhaul in release 4.1 and

my request would be that the UserId section can be more flexible.

I agree with the above in wanting to add linkedin, facebook and what have you links but also,

I like to delete some of the current ones such as messenger, google talk, icq, AIM

yet would like to keep skype etc. etc…

Thanks, Mamboe

all in the work… you will be able to optionally choose which fields are required by users and which ones you want to show…
