First time simplepress install. Got to step three and started the Install. Page says "Installation is in progress – please wait". It's been over an hour. What's next? Should I abort the Install somehow? If so, how? Any clues about standard causes for the problem?
I'm a savvy admin, so concise answers are OK.
Environment: Wordpress 2.8.6; Semiologic Pro 6.0; Semiologic 0.9 theme. Hosted at HostGator. Installing SPF 4.1.2.
Click on the side WP menu – forum install – and try it again.
We don't knwo why for a very small number of people it sometimes does this although some have found changing browser works, But try it again. Should really only take about a minute.
I tried "do it again" twice more. Still no luck. I'll try again from home after doing a restart etc.
What did you mean by "change browsers"? I'm using FFox on Mac OS X. I'll try using Safari and see if that helps. Are there any indications it's a Mac problem? I could try IE on PC at my office.

No – I ONLY have a Mac.
It is most likely a conflict with other plugins – or something on your site is throwing a javascript error which has stopped the SPF installation scripts running.
Are you seeing any JS errors in the FF Error Console. (Or even better with FireBug if you haver it installed)

I am having the same problem, the install just hangs, tested in firefox & IE…
This is what I am seeing in firebug:

…which means that something you have active on your site is either stopping the jQuery library from running or is loading an incompatible version of jQuery – something we have come across with a few WP themes.
This wiki article explains the likely problem – http://wiki.simple-press.com/i…..conflicts/ – At the bottom are a couple of quick tests you could do which should yield helpful information. These problems are best fixed regardless of using SP or not.
The one plugin I have on my current list that has caused this problem for others in the past is one called 'WordPress Popup Scheduler' but there will probably be others – and it could be the theme.

Hello, I'm having the same issue. I tried deactivating all my plugins and only enabling SimplePress, and tried the upgrade option then, but still no luck…it just keeps saying "Upgrade in progress.."
how long is it suppose to take?
