Well we don't currently have a solution – either quick or slow! Two reports out of several thousand users does not suggest a major problem with the code but does suggest a local/environmental issue of some sort.

Let's deal with the AHAH 0 OK message first, which as we said above, is kind of nonsense. (1) Do you guys get this on EVERY admin form load? (2) Let's take, for example, a form like Options > Topic Settings – which has no background processing or AHAH or AJAX on it whatsoever.

Next question… (3) If you click on 'About Simple Press' in the menu at the top – what happens?

Now – ovizii – sadly the error messages that come out of IE are next to useless in trying to track down problems but that does clearly seem to say that jQuery failed to load. As usual this suggests a javascript conflict with, probably, another plugin. (4) What plugins do you have active that (a) have an admin component and (b) load javascript – in particular jQuery? And (5) if you temporarily deactivate them, empty your browser cache and try forum admin again does the problem go away?

hey Andy,

what I tried was deactivate all plugins except for SF and then try the upgrade: same results.

So it doesn't seem to be a plugin conflict.

Apart from that, I can't do any of the things you suggested, as all I see on the front end is the message that the forums will be up again soon and in the back end the only menu left, is the one to upgrade.

Will try and delete the old installation and upload the plugin fresh, empty the browser cache and report back.

wait, you said exact same problem, then you say you cant see any admin pages waiting for upgrade??  Jim's problem is NOT an upgrade issue but an occasional occurance on regular adminpage views.  sounds like yours is on the actual upgrade?

so are you getting an ahah:0 error (you showed the crappy IE error message) or is it some other number than 0?

Ok, maybe I confused you :-(

let me try again: I get the error that can be seen in the screenshot: http://screencast.com/t/mm0KBWrXYE when trying to upgrade. I am stuck in the upgrade phase, as when I try to upgrade I just get this error.

It says:

Upgrade Simple:Press Forum From Version 4.0.4 to 4.1.0
(Build 1376 to Build 2491)

then I click Perform upgrade and get this error.

First, r.e. screenshots. From the first one ovizii posted, my issue is clearly different. As far as that second one goes, yikes!

So to answer Andy's questions:

(1) Do you guys get this on EVERY admin form load?

For me, when navigating directly to the main SPF admin tabs (i.e.; Options, Components, etc) via the WP Sidebar "Forum" links, the ahah error: 0 OK does indeed show up at the top of every the admin page but that page will load and function properly.

(2) Let's take, for example, a form like Options > Topic Settings – which has no background processing or AHAH or AJAX on it whatsoever.

Clicking on specific SPF sub-tabs, however, from within an Admin panel such as this gets the blue progress blocks going, and going, and going, and going, without the Topic Settings page ever actually loading, while the ahah error remains. (See my previous screenshot.)

FYI: If I navigate to a primary admin page (i.e.; Users, Profiles, etc) via the WP Sidebar Forum tab – even while the progress blocks are still going – that page will load, again with the error at top, and the same progress loop when trying to visit any sub-panel (i.e.; Member Information).

Next question… (3) If you click on 'About Simple Press' in the menu at the top – what happens?

The About Simple:Press window pops up, but it is empty. As in it includes no content. But it does load, open, and close just fine.

With that said, all this behavior is very consistent using Firefox. Safari presents no ahah error and all SPF Admin sub-tabs load fine.

Nonsense indeed. Hope this helps.

There's more too, from other referrers. But these seemed related to SPF Admin. Any idea what might cause files to be called from erroneous locations?

All I can suggest is trying 4.1.1… but that doesn't solve the problem… whatever it is
