I have set up simple-forum set up on my site using a new install wpmu 2.71.

I get the same the same message that the original poster, thiswell, had. I have made my settings in wpmu to allow new user registration. I checked wp-signup.php page and signed up with different user ID and it works fine. I still get the message in simple-forum/manage components/ Login/registration

I thought it wouldn't be a problem because the registration in wpmu is working fine. But, the registration button and text link aren't showing up on the forum to guest. If I want guest to be able to register I'll need to hard code a link to the wp-signup,php page unless there is a fix.

Any suggestion for a Fix on this problem or alernitive solution?

Possible the "Custom Icon"?

I'm unable to see that option because on the following is there.

Your site is currently not set to allow users to register. Click on the Help icon for details of how to turn this on.

The help link shows how set up wordpress to allow registration. I followed the precedure and wpmu is set to allow resgitration and is working. I can't get to option to display link. Sign-up.php functions well.

I'll wait fpr Radio, hope he can help.

I see the wordpress admin pages.

On the page  forum – components – login/registration…

I can't see the option to display the registration link. The only thing showing on the page is:

Your site is currently not set to allow users to register. Click on the Help icon for details of how to turn this on.

Registration is working well. I just can't get to the option to show registration link.

I love being popular.

First, to Jim, I believe I understand what you want to do, but no, I'm unaware of any tools that would automate making all registered members, members of one sub-blog (main-blog or not).

Adding them one at a time is tedious and time consuming, but you can check wpmudev.org for a plugin I seem to remember allows users to add themselves to a sub blog. Leaving that decision up to the users generally is the best idea anyway.

Second, to dpd1998, There are two places to set registration on in wpmu. The first is in the Site Admin > Options which sets the WPMU Options to register new users, register new blogs, or both. The second is in Site Admin > blogs > and 'edit' the specific sub-blog … in the Edit screen, look for the option fourth or fifth down, on the left hand side, "Users Can Register" and set it to 1 (one) this sets the WP option in the individual sub-blog.

SPF originally was not designed to work with WPMU and this little difference (seeing the individual WP sub-blog option and not the WPMU global option) is a reminder of those humble origins.

We leave this setting in place also as a security measure. Only a wpmu site admin can change the registration options, preventing spammers from opening security holes in a wpmu system that should be closed to new registrations, if that is the setup that the site admins require.

Radio,

Thank you, I followed your directions on the second place to set registration on wpmu and it worked. Registration link is now showing up.

Mr. Papa,

Thanks for trying to help. I'm sure it gets frustrating some times trying to help with scripts you don't use.

David

P.S.

When finances allow I'll make sure I get a donation sent. I'm laid off from work, have custody of 3 kids with no help from family. Things are tough for a lot of people but with help from above things will change for the better.
