I am using SPF on a sub blog wpmu setup running buddypress.  So, I would like to have the profiles pointing to the main site's buddypress profile.  Since I'm running the plugin on a subdomain site, it's using that site's URL to set up the buddypress profile link.  Is there a way I can point it to the main site's url?  So instead of xxx.maindomain.com/members/username/profile, it goes to maindomain.com/members…..?

I have plenty of programming experience as well, but can't seem to find anything in the API that would do this.

Is this possible?

no, not really… at least directly…  sp is capable of being run on any instance of wpmu (assume you really mean the older version)… by instance I mean network site (er, blog I guess is what wpmu called it)…

so when you run it on a sub blog, its geared up to run on that blog…  that way any blog, or the main site, can run it too…

I could steer you towards the code that generates the link, but it will affect any blog that activates and runs simple press…  no blog user would be able to have their own simple press install just for their blog, which is really the purpose of sp…

look at file sf-support.php and find routine sf_attach_user_profilelink() which generates that link…  case 3 is the buddypress link generation…

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.  Saves me time digging through code.  Obviously I didn't want to touch the core code so I didn't have to deal with it when updating, but I guess it's an easy enough edit that it isn't a big deal.

Thanks much.

FYI, I'm running 3.0, so I shouldn't have said "wpmu."  In any case, changing SFHOMEURL in case 3, to get_site_url(1) should do the trick, as that points to the main site and not the blog running the plugin.  That also allows you to run SF on any blog in the network, pointing the profile on every site to the main site.

Anyway, thanks.

I will open a ticket to consider making the buddypress option be a link to network site or main site…  in 5.0, we are hoping to do a full fledged buddypress integration, but plans could change..

Thanks a lot.  I'll keep my fingers crossed.  And thanks for the super quick responses.
