QuoteJust one day after the official release of WordPress 2.8.1, Doncha stepped up and pulled out WPMU v2.8.1 Official Release.
Andy and Steve think they have it tough, Doncha is a one man band.
The official 4.0.3 release, Update 2, of SPF stood up to the upgrade wonderfully, and promptly informed the admins that version 4.0.4 is a manditory upgrade.
One quick FTP session and 4.0.4 was loaded and ready to upgrade on all blogs.
WPMU SPECIAL NOTICE:
As with some of the previous versions, upgrading may take more than one attempt if upgrading as Site Admin.
WPMU Site Admin Privlages do apply and you will be allowed to upgrade on consecutive attempts.

I've got an issue with SPF 4.0.4. build 1376 running on WPMU 2.8.1 …
The SPF search function returns no results and bounces me to the main front page of the forums. Any ideas?
I'm planning to migrate our WP site to WPMU tomorrow and was just running through some final testing on our test site and discovered this glitch. Check it out…

FYI: "jerry" is a known value which should return hundreds of results.

going to have to wait for Radio to come on by. He has been working/testing the two together with success thus far, but no clue if he has looked at searching.

One thing this might be is MOD_SECURITY. Can you find out whether this has been turned on on your server? It is possible (if it is turned on) that it is rejecting the URL and I have seen at other times that it does not always result in a 500 error but just strips the part of the Url it doesn't like. Worth checking for anyway. As a note we have rewritten the search in the forthcoming 4.1 which will provide a much 'cleaner' url.

I'm pretty sure we do have mod_security enabled on our server. But the search is functioning properly on our .com domain. 
Perhaps this issue is related to our .net domain and not due to the 2.8.1 upgrade. (Though I thought I had tested the search on WPMU 2.7.1) Hopefully Radio can replicate to confirm.

Nothing to do with it being a .net tld. While I am not saying that search works OK on MU I CAN say that we have had no other reports of it not working which suggests a localised issue.

Under WPMU 2.8.1 + 4.0.4 AND 4.1 Alpha
Can not replicate the issue.
I am using Pretty Permalinks in both cases, my forum slug is 'forum' ( i.e site.tld/forum ) and in both cases the serarch used a GET request at the forum home, with the search strings following behind in the url, all done properly.
My next guess would be to look in the direction of other (default?) permalinks or conflicting plugins, specifically any plugin which captures request data and parses it prior to the forum being able to.
Redirection plugins would also be suspect… I have found no substitute for the plugin 'redirection' by John Goodly at UrbanGiraffe in terms of compatability with SPF… although it is a bit too powerful to put into the hands of mu sub-blog users, it has not once interfered with or conflicted with SPF and will flawlessly perform even on forum pages.
I'm in Hospital again tommorrow morning for another procedure. I expect to be out, inside 24 hours. Wish me luck

I too am using pretty permalinks (Day and Name). I deactivated all plugins for this test site and still get redirected to the home page of the forums with no query results.

Still trying to figure this out. Interesting thing about the URLs…
Private Message URLs (i.e.; "…/forums/?pmaction=viewinpm&pms=1") load the Inbox page just fine.
Search query URLs do not get "stripped" down. The home page of the forum loads while the entire search string URL (i.e.; "…/?forum=all&value=cancer%251&search=1") remains in the browser.
