I made a test installation on my developsite, and the installation went smooth all the way. This was not an upgrade, a clean installation.
Only error i was seeing was some permission settings on the website.
"Due to your permission setitngs, the Installer was not able to complete
all of the required tasks. The information below descibes how to
manually complete the install"
"Check the Storage Locations: Forum Admin > Configuration > Storage
Locations"
This is errors from my website, so the 4.2 beta installation was perfect with no errors.
yeah, unfortunately, many server permissions setups (not wrong) dont allow us to create directories when we install, so users have to do that. hence the error message to help out…

That's the exact error message I got too. I'm new to Simple Press. Could you walk me through fixing it?
OnlineCheck the Storage Locations: Forum Admin > Configuration > Storage Locations. Any folders that do not exist are marked and you will nbeed to manuakly create them.
As far as the 'avatars' and 'smileys' folders go, we also supply a default set of both that would not have been copied over because we could not create the folders. These can be found in the /styles foder and if you want to use the default images you will also need to copy thos into the new fodlers you create.
Al of this information was given on the post-install panel.

I did a new install of the 4.22 version on a new upgrade of WP2.9x
The message Check the Storage Locations: Forum Admin > Configuration > Storage Locations
is all in a red box but from the comments above it looks like it is just the list headding and it should then have a list of folders that either have a red mark or a green mark.
My install page has no directories listed, red or green Not sure if I am confused or if something else is happening.
Having the table heading in red is scary when doing a first install and perhaps it should say OK if there are no missing folders.

I, too, got the "Check the Storage Locations: Forum Admin > Configuration > Storage
Locations" error. I don't mind creating the necessary folder(s), but am unsure where to create them. At the simple-press folder root level (i.e. simple-press >forum_admin>configuration>storage_location). Or do I go inside the admin folder, and then create forum_admin>configuration>storage_location?
