Hi everyone,

I seem to have broken my previously working Simple Press forum. I had installed a couple of new plugins and SP stopped working (homepage would work but all links were broken). I should have tried removing some plugins, but instead I uninstalled SP. The uninstall froze halfway (I left it for 30 minutes or so). After closing the window and logging into the WP backend again SP seems to be uninstalled. But now when I try to reinstall it hangs.

After clicking the 'Install' link I get a new screen which says "Install Simple:Press Forum Version 4.2.2 – Build 3711" with a 'Perform installation" button. If I click the button I get this screen:

No matter how long I wait this screen doesn't change. If i click the 'Go to Forum Admin' screen it takes me back to the 'Perform Installation' screen mention above.

I have attempted to completely uninstall following instructions from this forum post, using phpMyAdmin to remove any wp_sfxxx tables and checking wp_options for any sf_build and sf_version, unfortunately I've had no success. (I don't have any of those tables, and I don't have either of thos names in my wp_options).

Would greatly appreciate any help! :)

Could the problem be the same plugin(s) that caused SP to stop working in the first place? What are they?

Ahh … I believe it was 'Page link to' and 'Member access'. I have tried deactivating both of them but nothing changes. Actually I have tried deactivating all plugins but I still get stuck on that 'installing' screen (if I navigate away to the plugins page it shows Simplepress as not installed).

Could you try with the default WP theme as well?

Thank you for looking into this :) but I have managed to sidestep the issue by installing WP 3.0.1 from scratch and reimporting my database. Installed all the same plugins and it all works now (mostly :D I have a new problem with the search button which I will start a new thread about).
