HTML formatting issues

I've been having formatting issues from time to time. It seems that nonsense HTML gets added to posts, and I have no clue what's causing it or what to look for.

One thing I notice is that it occurs mostly on posts that were quoting a previous post, but it also seems to happen when text is pasted into the add post box.

What I mean by nonsense HTML is linebreaks <br> getting added in the midst of sentences and the shrinking of text seemingly out of nowhere.

I assume it's something with the CSS but I don't know where to begin and what to look for.

Any suggestions?

I will PM you a link when it happens next. I usually manually go inside the HTML of the post and fix it up.

Or I can go ahead and try duplicating the problem in a closed forum topic and allow you access. Let me know if you want me to do that.

are you or someone else by chance posting content from ms word?  it contains all sorts of embedded html formatting…  there is a paste from ms word button on tinymce that will remove this…

I've seen this sort of thing before caused by another plugin filtering 'the_content'. Do you have any plugins that may be operating on your post text?

I'm not sure what you mean by plugins operating within the post text. If you are referring to plugins operating within the forums, then no. At least not that I know of.

all the post content is content on the wp page… any other plugin that operates on page content will also try to do its thing on the forum content…  which is why Andy is asking the question…

Even like a Tweetmeme button?

I have numerous plugins in use, though I'm not sure if any are operating on WP 'pages' too.
