Hey guys, I'm moving my blog from one (terribly crappy) server host to another. Do I need to do anything special to export/import the database in MySQL in order to preserve memberships and posts? Or will it all be restored when I import the entire WP database?

Thanks!

assuming the domain is the same, everything should be restored when you import the db…

Okay, what I ended up doing was exporting the db from MySQL, uploaded it to the new server, copied all WP files and plugins to the new server, then waited until my domain propagated. Now I'm getting an error on the Private Message Inbox/Sentbox screens that says "jQuery.splitter():jQuery cookie plugin required" Any idea how to fix this? Otherwise my entire site and all the forums copied over and are working fine.

Well the first thing is to check if it is there at all. Look in:
simple-forum/resources/jscript/jquery/
There should be 4 files – jquery.cookie.js and splitter.js plus their source (src) files.

@Yellow Swordfish: I checked and yes, those files are there. Next step?

Going on a hunch what the next step might be, I DL'ed the same version of Simple:Press and uploaded the original files in resources\jscript\jquery, just to make sure there was no file corruption during the move. The problem persists.

Yes, copied all the same plugins, didn't add new ones, didn't deactivate any. The private message screen was operating error-free in conjunction with all of them. Here's the list:

  • AddToAny: Share/Bookmark/Email button
  • Akismet
  • All in One SEO Pack
  • Bad Behavior
  • cforms
  • CommentLuv
  • FormBuilder
  • Google XML Sitemaps
  • Mingle
  • Pretty Link
  • Quotes Collection
  • Robots Meta
  • Series
  • Simple:Press Forum
  • Snap Shots Plugin for Wordpress.org
  • Subscribe2
  • Subscribe 2 Counter Widget
  • WP-PageNavi

Any known conflicts in that list?

I had another plugin, (cforms) that didn't also didn't work quite right after the move. I deactivated it, then reactivated it, and now it works fine. If I deactivate the SPF plugin and reactivate it, just to see if that fixes it, I won't lose any of my forum data, will I?

correct… no data will be lost if all you do is deactivate and reactivate…

Darn, it didn't work. Deactivated, reactivated, still getting the alert popup on the Private Message pages, layout still messed up. Any other advice, should I do a clean install or something?
