I am having the exact same issue.

WP 2.9.2 (didn't have this error on 2.9.1)

New install, not an upgrade. SPF 4.20 build 3510

Linux hosting on shared server.

Creates db's no problem, permissions are fine.

disabled all plugins and used default theme.

I have read about this installation problem in the wordpress forums, and on a previous thread here, forum admins do not post the solution!!!  I don't gain anything from a PM if you have found a solution.  One thread hinted at outdated JQuery but then didn't post how to solve this.

I really need to get this to work as I don't want to use bbpress, i really want to use existing user data etc.

error log is blank: http://www.awabahrain.org/wp/w…..-error.log

Well no – this is not the exact same issue as you say the db tables were created (which was the above problem in that they were not).
What you have not actually done above is describe what your problem is. What happened and what is happening now.
Plus a link to your site and forum is always necessary.

Hi thanks for your quick response. my site is : http://awabaharain.org

No, to clarify, the install does not create database tables, I was referring to a moderators response in the above issue that perhaps MySQL could not create tables.  My plugins are to create new database tables – my calendar created a table no problem.

I have no forum to show you as it will not install. However, if I did it would point to:

http://awabahrain.org/forum

To recap, I have the same problem in that I have uploaded the simple press forum folder in my plugins folder.  When I go to install, it says installation complete, the blue bars are empty, the yellow bar has got to the end, and it has a button to go to Forum Admin, which when you press, it takes you back to the installation page.

Many thanks

PS, the issue persists with

4.2.0 build 3510 and 4.2.0 3576, I have tried both.

it's most puzzling. Two out of – well many hundreds – where the tables failed to get created.
the other user who had this problem created the db tables separately from a script and then ran the install which was successful.
Are you able to do that? (The script is in simple-forum/help/documentation – you may need to edit the table prefix to your own). if not – I can do it for you but will need access to your database…?

I have the same problem!!!

install the forum = Database does not lay out any tables.

I would establish the database also manually!

Oh dear. I am sorry. So that is up to three now. Most puzzling.

Please do let us know if the manual creation of the tables went OK.

And please note we released 4.2.1 last night.

version 4.2.1 the same problem.

plug-in installation is normal.

goes no tables are laid out in the database. (although the installation says tables have created) O.o

With tables prepared manually it works! Is it due to the Install.php? Is a fault in it there?
(If I have time, I have a look at the Install.php whether once again I find what.)
One perhaps still should in a pinch offer a *.sql (table for Forum) for the download. (So everybody can manually install the tables in the database.)

I have found the fault!  the fault was in the wp-config.php

at define('DB_COLLATE', ''); was define('DB_COLLATE', 'utf8');

After that deletes of UTF8 the installation was quite normally going on and all tables were laid out automatically in the database. Everyone has problem the these, if hers should check config.php!(wordpress config)
