Hi, I'm using 4.2.3 because the newer version will break wishlist (yeah, I know, but…) When I log in I expected to see something like start a new topic or some such – http://gettingyourbookwritten……page_id=10 is the link if it will let you in

I also tried to set up a group and it won't save.

There's no java link or disable java option that I can see on my wp integration or the permalink page… what am I missing?

ThanksEmbarassed

why do you think the new version will break wishlist???? we have quite a few folks using 4.3.3 and wishlist…

so whats the problem with that page?  works for me… of course, it tells me I cant post since guests arent allowed on your site…  additionally, you dont have any groups defined – at least visible to guests…  in order to post, you must have at least one group and one forum defined…  might be good to check out our wiki, the getting started section…

The person I hired to sort out wishlist for me had me back up a version of wl so we could get clickbank working… hence the older version of simple forum

You gave me enough clues so I can post – I also allowed guests so you could post if you want… since this is a membership site with 21 lessons I'll disable guests when I actually launch… and of course I've still got questions.

I need a group and a forum to allow posts? That's what I think I did… so if I want 23 main topics – one for each lesson, and a couple of extras I set up both a forum and a group for that? Is that right?

Thanks so much

The hierachy is 'Group' – which is a collection of forums. 'Forum' – which is a collection of topics. Topic – which is a colelction of posts. So this is a 'post' in the 'new user warning…' topic in the '420-423' forum in the 'Simple:Press Support – Older Versions' group.

Topics are the discussion threads usually focused on specifc issues. You can see that hierachy at work here.
