Hello
I am running the latest SPF, everything seems ok except that I can't get my rss feed to work. Using feedburner there are two feeds, one for the wordpress website and one I want to et up for the forums (though one altogether would be preferred).
The forum RSS: here are the steps I did-
- globally enabled rss feeds and input my feedburner address in the box (http://feeds.feedburner.com/thecrtforums)
- in feedburner, added http://www.communityradiotoolk…..?xfeed=all into the 'original feed' field
- I get the error "The URL does not appear to reference a valid XML file."
- feedburner then picks up my posts rss feed and changes the forums one to it (http://www.communityradiotoolk……net/feed/)
I also have no clue about whether I need to do anything for the group rss feeds, the only thing I have done is pasted the feedburner address into those too.
I'm new to rss (obviously) and this is driving me bats.
Any help appreciated
Ellie
Sorry – it is not that I am ignoring you but more that I am unsure about your problem. We certainly have no other reports of this and use feedburner ourselves for some of the feeds.
I need some he3lp from Steve on ths one who, hopefully, will be able to stop by soon.
likely because you have your forum behind a password protected page or some sort of membership plugin… I cannot see the forum rss link (or even the forum page) you reference (http://www.communityradiotoolk…..?xfeed=all) and get redirected to a login page… If I cannot see the page, then its unlikely that feedburner can see the page either…
If the forum is behind a protected page, is there no way to publish the feed as content only on another blog? Like a teaser, then when they click on the link they will be asked to log in?
This is not really my area either so my questions/suggestions may well be wrong.
But… could this be because the 'feedkey' option is turned on? (Forum admin > Optoons > Global Options)
I have turned of the feedkey option in the forum, as well as the option on my members only plugin, still thinks the feed is not valid….
I also noticed that if I use the wordpress default widget for RSS, it still does not detect the feed, this is in the same blog. (forum plugin installed in the 'members' blog (/members), which is password protected.
However, it works with the Simple Press plugin (the Widget to display the latest Simple:Press posts), which is fine, but on top of that, I would like the RSS feed to be on my main website, then if someone clicks on it, they will have to login to comment or something.
I keep getting 'http://www.worldwidesalonmarke…..?xfeed=all is not available'. Using feedburner, it says to validate, and when I do, it says it's a web page, not a feed.
I'm now wondering if it's an issue with the password protected membership area, if it won't work within it's own site…..?
Thanks again for helping, and hope all this makes sense, lol.
