obviously, we would prefer you left them there just for the recognition/credit, but under the GPL license we release spf, you can certainly remove them. The acknowledgments are output in function sf_render_version_strip()

I think that leave the credit in the footer is the best way to support this good project.

If you want to remove the credits, you need to edit the code – the filename I referenced – and remove it.

Why not just make the renderied code hidden the link will still be used by the spiders therefore providing link back

because we dont have the credit there for spiders, seo or link juice. It's really there for others to see and come become users of simple press.

In 5.0, with themes, it will be easier to remove if desired from your theme vs editing core files…
