I would estimate an alpha release, for 3.x in about two weeks. If that goes ok we can take a look at the 2.xx database and see how easy that might be to import.

This perfect – I am starting a Joomla to Wordpress migration, and phpBB is my exforum of choice. This would really make a difference, and I bet could give SPF a major boost and an alternative forum option.
So we have to wait 1 more week for IPB converter. Thats really great news..

An update on progress …
We are currently refactoring a lot of the code to allow for the importing of larger forums, one of the main reasons I started this was to import a forum with a lot of posts (circa 1 million) for testing in SPF.
This refactoring is going to mean about another weeks delay before we start looking for alpha testers.
On the plus side we have successfully imported the basics from the following forums
phpBB Version 3.0.7-PL1
vBulletin Version 3.8.6 Patch Level 1
IPB Version 3.1.1
By Basics I mean
- Permissions Groups (But NOT the permissions)
- Groups and Forums
- User groups and Users
- Private Messages
- Topics and Posts
- Smilies
- Avatars

@Yellow Swordfish – I haven't let it finish the import of the million posts yet. The code refactoring was to build in a system to allow for chunked imports of the data to avoid timeout issues. I let it get to 250,000 last night and then went to bed, it did the 50,000 users no problem !
@johnnyguru222 – Thanks. When we are ready for alpha testers I will start a new thread asking for them
@Lahori_Munda / Mr Papa – Its currently in my svn repository but once its released it would make more sense for it to be in the main svn repository here as it would make life far easier for people. I am not to precious about hosting it.
