I got this when I tried to upgrade my test blog to the beta. I'm upgrading from Build 2510 to Build 3273

There are two parts to this. The first is a WP core db function where the code apears to have lost the database opject and that is truly puzzling. Looking into it however.

The second – duplicate key – i also a bit puzzling because the upgrade only makes one attempt to create that record so it hard to see where a duplicate may have happened. Still – we are looking into this one as well.

Ok, I backed up my live site again and copied it over to a test site with the exact configs as my live site. And tried the upgrade "fresh" again.

I got a similar response when trying to upgrade:

Upgrade Aborted
2798
Install Error: (NOTICE)[8] Undefined index: class
on line 1111 in file /home/statsvit/public_html/wp-includes/wp-db.php

The line number seems to change slightly according to which other plugins I deactivate. This message came when I deactivated all the other plugins before trying to upgrade.

With "Role Scoper" activated, I get this message:

Upgrade Aborted
2510
Install Error: [2048] Non-static method ScoperHardwayFront::flt_recent_comments() cannot be called statically on line 166 in file /home/statsvit/public_html/wp-includes/plugin.php
WordPress database error: []
SELECT meta_key, meta_value FROM wp_usermeta WHERE user_id = 1

With another plugin called "WP-o-Matic", I got this message:

Upgrade Aborted
2510
Install Error: [2048] Non-static method ScoperHardwayFront::flt_recent_comments() cannot be called statically
on line 166 in file /home/statsvit/public_html/wp-includes/plugin.php

xberserker: This one we know about. If you are up for a small code change there are details of this at this post. It is caused by some left over data from an old blog/topic link.

peterhol: Your problem is totally unrelated. Actualy it would have better off in it's own thread. Your first issue above we know about but are still investigating.

The second and third issues are both caused by Role Scoper – whatever that is.

ok thanks.. btw, I tried installing the upgrade on another blog on the same server, and it worked fine. The difference between the setups are basically that the one that did not work uses these plugins:

- Facebook Connector (allows users to log in to the blog/thus also the forum with facebook credentials)

- Role Scoper (allows for more control with user groups)

- and a few others (that I think have a less probability of interference).

Also, on the one that worked, I upgraded from version 4.1.2. On the one that didn't work, I upgraded from 4.1.3.

PHP version 5.2.12

I PM-ed xberserker, and it seems we both have "role" plugins. That is, plugins that help us manage user roles.

He is not using Role Scoper, but another one.

we routinely install/upgrade/execute with role plugin ourselves since we allow roles to drive user group membership..

as andy says, we know what yours is (not why though)…
