The forum showed that it needed to be upgraded, the "preform upgrade" button under the Forum section of Admin hung.

I tried to do the manual upgrade instead.  I deactived the plugin – deleted the plugin folder – and uploaded the new version – and then reactivated the plugin.

I thought that woud fix it but…

The forum page (http://campaign.uw-mc.org/forum/) is still showing: The forum is temporarily unavailable while being upgraded to a new version

The forum section of Admin is still showing:

you need to click on that link in the image that says 'perform upgrade'…  that upgrades the db as needed…  just uploading the files doesnt do an upgrade…

The forum hangs on upgrading, and I receive the following message:

Upgrade Aborted
3576
3723

Any ideas how to fix?

It will probably be another plugin or your theme causing some kind of conflict. if you can temporarily deactivate some plugins and/or switch to the WP default theme – just fr the upgrade – then it should go through.

At the end of the day t would be good to locate the problem though but for now getting it upgraded is probably more important.

Thank you!

I got that to work.  I will try to hunt down the problem plugin – but for now I am glad the forum is back up.

Again, I appreciate the help.

Andy,

I had the same problem with an update from 4.1.3 to 4.3.3 and the same advice fixed it too, thanks.

As a Simple Press Forum upgrade is what I regard as a MAJOR upgrade, ie it doesn't happen every week, and is major part of my sites that use it, maybe a mention in the readme for upgrade that disabling all plugins during the upgrade for Simple Press is a smart move.

we could mention it, but the vast majority do not need to do such a thing… will consider adding a note in the next release…
