Hi there ,
I am lately having the following problem and just want to check if you have an idea what could cause this . (have newest SPF version and Wp 3.0)
I am posting in my forum and sometimes the site will become unresponsive (stall)
and then I will not be able to access my site at all.
I am being "locked out"" from my site and my CPanel altogether for 1 hour .
This only happens when I use Simple Press Forum. Posting in WordPress do not cause this
problem .
I contacted my server about this and they could not see a cause for the problem .
I am currently "locked" out again .
Any ideas ?
Thank you ,
Angie
Thanks for your great Forum.
lately? so wasnt happening before? then what has changed on your server/site?
I am not sue what else I could suggest if your host has no idea… obviously, nothing directly sp can do to lock you out of cpanel… unless cpu/memory or other was violated and your host locked you out.. but if they dont know…
have you checked your server error logs when you get back and see if there is anything in there (though I would expect your host would have checked those)?
Thanks for replying Mr.Papa ,
here is what my server wrote back just this morning :
The IP is not being blocked by our servers. The issue would be with your forum software somewhere.
Please have your web designer look for problems with your software.
I just checked my server logs and the only errror messages I have is for blocked I.P. .s
I blocked in my Cpanel (mostly eastern europe I.P. 's because of ongoing hacking attempts .)
They show up as :
Fri Sep 03 05:23:31 2010][error] [client 91.212.226.246] client denied by server ….
Other than that I cannot see any error messages .
All other traffic seem to be able to access my site .
It is just me it seems , being blocked out after or while using my forum .
Now this does not happen all the time, but the problem has not been there, I believe before I upgraded to the newest verion of Simple Press .
It is a problem since I am even unable to log into WP at that point and do any posting at all .
Thanks ,
Angie

Mr.Papa ,
I am sorry . I should have made that clearer .
I meant I was just blocking Ip.'s on my server. Did not mean SPF was .
Maybe I blocked SPF I.P.address by mistake ?
As for mod security
Where would I find this ?
I looked in my .htaccess files and found this code :
BEGIN WordPress
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteRule ^index.php$ –[L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule . /index.php [L]
</IfModule>
Is that what you meant ?
Thank you very much.
Angie
