I seem to have lost my text editor, Is there some reason why this would happen?

Also when updating a profile instead of the text appearing at the bottom the page goes blank and says your profile has been updated. Is there a known reason for this happening?

Afraid I have to ask the obvious question: What has changed?
Both of these behaviours indicate a javascript problem resulting in scripts not being accessible. Have any scripts been added, modified etc? New plugins? Theme changes?

Actually I have fixed the problem. It seems to have been my web browser, firefox. I uninstaled and re installed it and now I can see the editor toolbar again. Thanks.

More likely Firefox ran out of system resources. One of the down sides of FF is that it is resource hungry and often seems not to free up memory that well – especially on a mac. Adobe does this too. I usually just reboot the machine to ensure all the memory is cleared.
