SPF not updating user's user group memberships

Using SPF 4.3.1, WP 3.0 and WishList Member.

Members must complete a free registration in WLM first before seeing links to purchase membership levels in WLM.

Two test users that I entered manually into WP where added to SPF fine- the registered level and the membership levels they were assigned.

A real member, after registering, gets added to the WP users find and to SPF user list with registered privaleges (user group), however, when they purchase membership levels through WishList Member the new membership level shows up in WLM and WP and they receive access to all of the correct content except SPF does not add those user group memberships so they are not seeing the forum content that they should.

Do I need to trigger an update to the SPF user list? Any other ideas?

p.s. I will be on the road for several days so it may be a day or two before I can respond to any posts. Thanks.

Simple:Press relies on WordPress firing an 'event' that is used to update whatever is necessary. If any other plugin/code is used to add/manage users then that has to fire the same events for Simple:Press to be made aware of what is happening.

It sounds to me like this is not happening so Simple:Press knows nothing about the new user. I am pretty sure we have quite a number of WishList users however. Is your version up to date?

Yes WishList is up to date. (I don't think it would work at all with WP 3 if it wasn't.)

we have hundreds (maybe thousands) of users using sp and wishlist together, so going to need some more info as to what might be going on…

you say membership level but how does that equate to wp roles?  is it a new wp role?  as I understand it, wishlist by itself doesnt create new wp roles…  without wp roles, we have no way of knowing about any user changes… we map user groups to wp roles…

could you please elaborate on how a new membership level for you is mechanized?

I will try to describe the mechanization. Basically I followed the documentation that I could find on WP, SPF and WLM. — For what it is worth, I think this combination is going to meet my needs but I also think that it is still way too complex with too many parts that have to be set up and linked together.

Please note that (as indicated in my original post) if I manually add a user to WP and associate or activate a membership level for them SPF seems to pick that up and allow them to see the appropriate forum(s). The problem occurs when someone purchases a membership through WLM.

In WP- I have separate Roles for each membership group/level that have associated capabilities (Capability Manager)

In SPF- I have different forums set up with group permissions, I have User's Groups, and it seems that somwhere some part of this needed to be linked to some aspect of WP ( Forum Group to WP Role or some such link) which I did but I can not find right off hand where or what specifically that was

In WLM- I have Membership Levels that tie back to WP Roles

I hope that helps.

The default SP user groups to create members in, which are linked to WP roles is in the forum Options > Members panel so you best check they are correctly set up.

and how are the various roles changed in wlm?  do they use the standard wp api for role changes which fires a wp hook that tells us there was a role change?

we have a large number of users that are successfully using these three components successfully, so still trying to understand what might be different for you…

Sorry, I have no idea how the roles are changed in WLM.

To the best of my knowledge I did not set up anything different anywhere, just did a standard installation and configuration of all three components (four if you count the Capabilities Manager plugin too). It seems that I must have missed something somewhere or not gotten something set correctly if it is working for others but I sure have not been able to figure it out.

It seems that each piece is working correctly and the two plugins both are "talking" to WP in that when the membership is purchased through WLM it shows in WP and when I add a member in WP it shows in SPF … so, why does the WLM membership not carry through to SPF? It is definitely out of my knowledge area but I am working at figuring it out and appreciate your assistance.

I have goten this combination to the point of meeting most of my needs so if I could get this last major hurdle resolved it would be great.

Thanks.

What is 'capabilities manager'? Could that be the culprit? I have not come across this before… so does that have anything to do wth not triggering the WP events?
