All the users of the forum in question have standard access. I have edited standard access to prohibit the posting of media, files and images in the forum control/permissions section. However when I select the insert/edit image icon the editor still shows the browse button.

What am I doing wrong?

Regards

I think I probably answered this in my last post. Admins will still see it.

Yes of course but I am logged on as a mere mortal user for test purposes on another browser. Sorry for being a pain but could you tell me 'exactly' how to revoke the priveledges. I'd appreciate it very much.

Forum Admin . Permissions > Edit the permission set(s) that you are making use of and turn off the three 'upload' privilieges – they are together in the far right column. Do this for all permission sets that you are currently using.

Yes done that and by way of illustration this is what I get:

Firstly permissions, clearly these are now correct and this user cannot post images, files or media

Secondly here is the image editor and you can clearly see that the browser icon is still there:

Finally this is what happens when the browser button is clicked

So as you can see this has not worked. Any ideas why?

What version are you using? I can not replictae this on the latest version 4.3.3 and we also have no other reports of this. if you are not using 4.3.3 let me know and I will retest in that version but so far this seem pretty unique.

I cannot duplicate either… most weird…

and your are sure the user you are trying this with is in the usergroup member?  and that the member doesnt have that permission in any other forum? ask because I cant see if the forum you are trying to upload to is the same forum as where you displayed the permissions…  the user may have diff permissions on diff forums…

and I assume you are not running any caching plugins?

There is only one forum the users forum. The forum has permissions set for 2 types of user – moderators and members. The forum permissions for members is set to standard access which I have edited to prevent to uploading of files, images and media.

Other plug ins installed are

Akismet

Avatars

Contact Form 7

Health Check

Move Comments

Simple:Press

Smilies Themer

Smilies Themer Toolbar

User Role Editor

WP Ajax Edit Comments

The permissions set by user role editor do not allow images, media or files to be uploaded by anyone other than admin.

I admit to being lost on this one at the moment.

Using this test member account you have set up (and ensuring this account is niether an admin or in the moderator group) can you load up the forum to either topic list or posts view and then take a look at the html source being generated.

if you are loading javascript in the footer, scroll to the bottom of the source (is not scroll to locate it) and look for the loading of the tiny_mce.js file.

Just below that you shoudl find the tinyMCE.init block of settings and at the top of those should be four – 'canimage', 'canmedia', 'canfile' and 'cansignature'. They should all be set to zero for a user who can not use uploading. Is this the case?
