I am trying to integrate wishlist and simplepress and I have seen a couple thread on the forum about it already. What I am trying to find out is which plugin to use to manage the roles I am using wordpress 3.0. Basically what i want todo is be able to do is like duplicate the subscriber role but with a name change how easy is it todo?

personally, I have no knowledge of Wishlist so would rather not suggest anything. Although this question does not seem to be SP related so maybe asking the Wishlist people may be better..?

Well it is kinda half way between wishlist and simplepress. I want wishlist to auto create access to certain areas on the simple press forum. Which i think is possible but I am missing that link between the 2 of them.
Granting permissions to certain forums only – for example – is set up by the combination of permission sets and user groups which are then applied to a forum. You can also set up which WP 'roles' will populate a forum user group when a new user is created.
You can create as many SP user groups and permission sets as needed and likewise, with the right plugins, you can create as many WP roles as needed.
How the WishList plugin interacts with that lot I don't know. But if it creates new users properly and fires the correct WP hooks then SP can pick those new users up and allocate them according to the rules you have set up.

Basically what Wishlist does at the moment is it uses the base roles editor, author, subscriber and contributor what i really need to be able to do is add extra levels basically duplicates of the subscriber role and then I can get wishlist to tie it into the forum i think
So if Wishlist can not create new roles then you need something like the Role Manager plugin as well perhaps…?

wishlist cannot create roles??? really? I have never used it, but we have lots of users that do use it with sp… and some have had as many as a dozen different membership levels and each had a wp role to go with it… using forum – options – members settings, you can map an sp user group to this wp role and get the kind of things you are looking for. Must admin I am not sure how the wishlist users got a dozen memberships/roles…

Basically you need something else to create the rules. Wishlist creates like memberships and you auto assign them to one of the groups.
Anyway I believe I have sorted the issue with using Role Manager(bit messy since it is suitable to version2.6 of wordpress and im running 3.0.
Create the role using it then hook it into the forum and wishlist. I believe wishlist are working/ were working on a full integration solution with simplepress at least according to their support.
Hi…. I'm brand new here… getting ready to load SP and WishList Member… I will have different levels of membership… and from what I am hearing Role Manager is not working well with WP3 …
Has anyone found a fix to this?
