Incorporating WP Theme's Page Template into Forum

I'm almost finished my forum integration with one hopefully simple problem. I have a series of templates in my theme and one is called forum.php which includes a header graphic for the page and then the typical code for the content. I'm trying to figure out how to incorporate that template into my page so the header appears above the forum. What to do?

You can change the WP template you want to use by going to Edit Pages – locating the 'forum' page – using Quick Edit and selecting the template of choice.

Worth noting that in SP you can also opt to display a graphic banner instead of he page title.
