I'm using SP on a variable-width theme, and in trying to make it usable for mobile devices with low resolution, I've been trying to make it so the entire page has a minimum width. But it seems that while sfloginstrip, sfmessagestrip, sfheading, sfstatestrip, and sfversion all are fine, the sfposttable has its own minimum width (or something within it does), which causes things to get cut off when the browser is at or below the main page min-width. But I don't seem to be able to find where the post table minimum width is set in the CSS files.
(Apologies in advance if it's something that should've been obvious but I missed). =D
its not set in css… but js to handle word wrapping… try disabling 'Use Text Wrap Width for Posts:' on forum – options – style settings and then see if you can set a minimum width…

Discovered it was actually due to the size of images displayed in the thread, which I had apparently forgotten to reduce when setting the variable width. Thanks for the help!
