I have a new WP installation and Simple-Press is the only plug-in.

If SP is not activated eMails are sent on a new WP user registration.

If SP is activated and the Captchas - graphical and mathematical deactivated, eMails are no longer sent by WP.

(I have also deactivated all SP plugins with no luck either)

I've spent 10 hours trying everything I can think of to make eMails to be sent on a new Registration, but no luck.

 SP Version 5.5.2

WP Version 4.0

Help.............

have you activated or changed any settings on forum - options - email settings?  keep in mind, sp does not actually send any emails - wp sends them all...  we may alter some fields, but the actual sending is wp...

Nope - but this morning I'll start from scratch with a virgin WP install and SP and see.

I've tried to change every setting that I can no longer keep track of what was the default settings.

I will install a fresh WP and an a user and check for eMails

Then install SP without any plugins and then try to register a new user in WP.

But if I remember SP changes Registration with a math question - I'll hunt for where to turn that off and see if that makes any difference.

I'll get back tomorrow....

Did a brand new install this morning - same problem - once SP is activated no registration eMails are sent from that moment on.  Did not test any other plugin for eMails and the initial eMail from the fresh WP install was sent.

Here's my steps:

  1. Fresh install of WP 4.0 - no plugins
  2. Registered a new user fine - eMails sent
  3. Fresh install of SP 5.5.2 and activation - did not touch anything nor add any SP plugins
  4. Registered a new user - new user appears in user list in WP - no eMails sent.

When I try to register a new user your math Captcha appears and I answered it correct.

(My opinion is that math Captcha should default to OFF - no change to basic WP functions unless the owner wants it; that would go for the graphical Captcha in your Captcha plugin too - just my opinion)

Under Options/Email settings:

The Email From name is correct and so is the Email domain name - they are from the WP's admin's eMail.

so I'm sure you can reproduce the problem and hopefully find a fix.....

But on the forum options > email settings panel have you turned off the option to utilise the Simple:Press new user registration email? This is what Wp call a 'pluggable' function and of there is contention it can sometimes fail...

That fixed it - I unchecked the "Use the Simple:Press new user email version" button and WP now sends eMails to new users.

Thank you.......

(But with the above option checked, no eMails are sent to a new user. Don't know if that's a problem for folks who leave it checked)

I checked a number of my websites that use SP and that option was turned off on all of them. I don't remember doing that but that's why they never showed this problem...

Love SP...........

And this is ONLY WP and SP ? If so that is most odd as normally this would be an issue when a third item was after performing the same task and even that is a rarity. Something clearly affecting things but of it is just Wp and SP then I am at a bit of a loss to understand what in earth that could be.

By the way - both the Captcha plugin and the 'math' question are permissions (on forum posts) which you can turn on or off as needed. I rather thought that use on the registration form was off by default in any case...

I run SP on 10 websites and I just checked all 10 of them - the “Use the Simple:Press new user email version” button" was unchecked on but 1 of them and I've never had any problems registering new users in WP. The one website was an old site that is not open to new members but the old members never had a problem registering but this was years ago.

I honestly don't remember unchecking that button but obviously someone did........

glad its working... would like to know what the issue is as the feature is widely used...

wonder if you have another theme or plugin that is overloading the wp new user email routine?  might be conflicting since that email properties can only be changed by that and not by filter...
