Hi Guys, I just stated using Yoast SEO on one of my sites.

Don't see a way to disable it on my SP forum page, and it's blocking sp's meta data. Googled up a few articles, but wanted to ask the experts first before i went digging into my theme files.

Thanks.. wink

The only suggestion I have without digging deep is to enable 'ugly' permalinks in Yoast. Although I'm not sure if this is still an issue, and I'm not really knowledgeable with SEO.

Hopefully Mr Papa can confirm if this is still an issue, and if there is more to it he is the best person to answer..

Take it you have had a good look through the forum > components > SEO? I know that Yoast can work fine with the right settings..

Hi, Ike..

Yes i have the SEO in SP tweaked.

Had some seemingly unfixable problems with AIO SEO Pro and switched to Yoast.

AIO had a disable option on the forum page, where Yoast does not.

Thanks, Doc

Have a look at this topic

There's a lot of useful info there, possibly the same problem.

Yes that's interesting. But in order for SP's meta data to flow, the Yoast SEO needs to be disabled on the forum page itself, IMO.

There's quite a few articles how to do it on the net, but nothing recent that i found. One gal tells how to do it, claims it works, but viewing her sites source shows it's not.

Yoast SEO is superior to AIO Pro in it's social options and capabilities, but it lacks a disable on page toggle.

Regards,

Well i licked part of it. Deleting the page rewrite ruled in the setup helped. At least i have the forum post title showing up. Only have two pages forum and contact so it's no big deal to remove it. It's still blocking the description tag, and the og tags are not that important on the forums. Got lots of good dirty laundry indexed on the sp forums i don't want to lose.

Well like I said, unfortunately I'm really not up to speed with the in's and out's of SEO so I can't offer any further advice myself, but I'm glad you got somewhere!

So FidoSysOp, I would still like more details on what is missing or wrong... meta data is too generic...

is the title tag right?  the canonical url? the meta description?  the keywords?  other?

When I run wp seo and simple press (yes, test them all the time), the above works just fine...  you can see Ike's link and others here (like https://simple-press.com/suppo.....ate-titles) that show you couple tricks to get thing workings...

If I know what you think is wrong, I can be more specific...

Also, keep in mind that your theme could be at work here too...  Unfortunately, your wp theme and multiple wp plugins (ie wp seo, simple press, jetpack, etc) may all be 'competing' to control the head tags...

if in doubt, might be useful test to run with default wp theme, wp seo and simple press and see if same answer...

G'mornin Y'all..

It appears to me that Yoast is acting like a firewall blocking any SP data that is supposed to flow through the forum page assigned to it. I'm not a coder so that might not be the proper term.

What was showing in the previous page source view was the default Yoast data. If the forum pages content was filled out like a post it would look something like this code view, but would be the same for every forum post. So I'm thinking Yoast has to be disabled for the forum page.

As far as SEO and Open Graph are concerned Yoast is the best plugin out there that i have found. His website says offers support for his free products from WordPress only. I have asked this question before with no reply. Can't afford to buy it for $89 in order to get support.

AIO has a disable toggle on this post / page that i always used on the sp page. That's all i know.

I still dont understand what you are expecting...  simple press does not output any meta property tags... so wordpress seo is not blocking them...  all those meta property tags will be options you have enabled and since sp doesnt output them, its not blocking ours...  are they incorrect on the forum page - its not obvious from the screenshot?

if your sp settings tell us to, we will out put meta description...  thats about it for meta... we do output a title tag, keywords tags and a proper canonical url...  I have shown you where the filters are to make those work...

as to disabling the rest of wordpress seo on the forum, I would suggest trying a plugin that allows you to disable other plugins on specific pages, such as:  http://wordpress.org/plugins/p.....organizer/
