It was a good request! And by the look of it pretty straight forward to implement.

Quick question on the functionality of it. Say I set max characters at 35. If they go beyond it will it pop up a warning max characters exceeded or will it just cut off the title at 35?

I coded it up today to use the built in maxlength attribute of text input controls. When the user reaches the maxlength that is set the input field just refuses to accept any more characters.
FYI - the default and current setting was for 180 although the database column is capable of up to 200.

Just curious, what will happen to existing topics with titles that exceed the char. count limit set in the new option? I presume the limit will only affect new topics...
