"Tinymce not defined" error message

Following the recent major upgrades I find there is no edit button bar when I try to write, reply to or edit on my posts.

I have completed the upgrades to WP 4 and Simple Press, I have upgraded the plugins and reset the settings that I can find - including "switching on" Tinymce.

When I look at the Inspect Elements window in Chrome, I get four lines of error message that all say "Tinymce not defined."

I have tried editing in Explorer and get the same text-only display.

The main website is http://www.flat-chat.com.au/forum but this also applies to another recently upgraded subsidiary website.

Any thoughts on what might be the problem?

Regards

JimmyT

Hey Jimmy,

Thanks for linking to your forum, but I can't access enough of it as guest to get the editor open.

The only problem I notice in the console is

'SyntaxError: missing ) after argument list suckerfish.js:46'

which is showing as a JS Error. Although I'm not sure what that might have to do with the editor if anything at all, but it could be causing problems or preventing other JS stuff from working properly.

In any case, are you running anything that adds to the editor? custom buttons or anything?

I wasn't sure if Tinymce was loaded at all after the upgrade so I installed a plugin called "TinyMCE Advanced".

I have been having Javascript problems with the Forum before but the page that is linked to in other forums doesn't actually tell you how to fix this.  I have a feeling that if I can fis the java problems, I coulf fix these issues.

How do i give you access to the Dashboard without broadcasting the login to anyone who reads this ?

It's entirely possible that the js errors are the cause. I would try disabling the WordPress theme and trying one of the defaults, as I assume the error I am seeing is coming from there. If that is the problem then I would look at speaking to the developers of the theme to see if they can resolve the problem.

If not, I would definitely disable any TinyMCE plugins, and possibly all plugins bar SP. If the problem is resolved, you can activate them one at a time until the problem comes back to pinpoint the source of the issue. If this even just resolves the js problems it's worth doing.

The problem was with the WP files.  My hosting admin people replaced the contents of the folder in /wp-includes/js/tinymce/ and my main website started working again.  I think it's one of the problems with rushing into upgrades ... sometimes something breaks.  Thanks for your support and patience.
