Hi,
I have a user who cannot start a new topic, nor reply. He can only use the quote tab. Additionally, I have some users who say they cannot open the forums when they use Win 8 and I.E. Any idea what is the issue?

Do you mean just one, single user who can't do it? Doesn't really make any sense does it! My first suggestion would be to propose they upgrade their browser to a newer version. I may be wrong but that could well be the issue. Perhaps you should ask them what they are using and what version it is...

I'm using TinyMCE (tho no changes when choosing differently) and the latest FF 32.0. No other changes in my forum options.

The Windows 8 is any user who tries and open the forum using I.E. while on Windows 8.

Well - as to your user using Firefox I am afraid to say I have absolutely no idea what their problem may be. Perhaps they have an FF extension that is stopping things working. At least two of my colleagues use Firefox almost exclusively and I rather suspect there are thousands of people using FireFox and accessing SP forums every day.
There IS a problem that can happen with WIndows 8.0 and IE (IE 10 I believe). As I understand it this is resolved in Windows 8.1. If your users will not upgrade then you should be able to resolve it by turning off the tooltips which needs a small edit to the spFunctions.php file (in the /templates folder of your SP theme). You will see at the top where tooltips can be disabled. This should resolve it.
You can, of course, use our theme file editor for this.

This actually happened to me as well, the whole no reply/new topic thing, and I have no clue what I did to fix it... But he is the only one reporting this to me. The turning off tooltips bit, well...I can honestly say this went right over my pay grade! I would need a "turning off tooltips for dummies" explanation...

I pretty much covered it...
Open the SP theme edit (forum admin > themes >editor) and load the soFunctions.php file from the list. Find the item that says you can turn tooltips off near the top - it tells you what to do in the text. Change it and save.

Thanks, that fixed the IE issue.
Two more questions:
The top posters is not automatically refreshing. I have use the "clean up post count" to bring up the actaul post counts for this section???
I do not know what I broke as before I would just enter the URL for a picture and it would automatically add it in. Now I need to paste the URL in insert image tab. YouTube automatically adds, though pictures don't. Ohh, and any recommendation on adding a liveleak video?

It could mean that your WordPress Cron has stopped functioning. It happens sometimes. easiest way to test that is to write a blog post and give it a time to publish in the future - say 5 minutes or so. And then wait and see if it happens. Not sure how you fix it although I think you will find the WP forums are full of questions on this.
If it DOES post then it could just be the SP cron tasks that WP has lost from the schedule. Easiest way to resolve that is to deactivate Simple:Press (NOT Uninstall!) and then immediately reactivate which will cause the tasks to reschedule.
I assume though that you do know the stats section is cached and only recalcs using the time interval you haver set in the General Display Settings admin panel...

Not familiar with 'liveleak' but have you tested just pasting in the URL to see if WordPress has extended the oEmbed site list?
On pasting in the image url - what browser are you using for this please?

Hey alex,
I seem to remember that you had this problem with top posters before, and that time it resolved itself. Is this the first problem you've had since then?
I don't really understand whether you have tried 'clean up post count'. By all means give it a try to see if it resolves the problem.
I think the stats are updated every hour, so if you are experiencing top posters not displaying correctly intermittently, is it possible you are just noticing it being incorrect in-between updates?
I'm afraid I can't help on posting images, as far as I was aware, you always had to use the 'insert/edit image' although I'm sure someone will chime in if I am wrong..
As for liveleak, it gives you the option to 'embed' under the video. Copy that code, make a post on your forum and click 'insert/edit video'.. Now instead of pasting the embed code into the first box (general) at the top of the popup you have tabs, click 'embed' and paste your embed code there.
