Do we have any BuddyPress users out there?  How about BuddyPress users that want a tighter integration and sharing of data between BP and SP?

Well, then I am happy to announce the new BuddyPress integration plugin - at least the first cut at.  I suspect it will continue to grow over time.

I would like to see if there are any users who want to help test our new BuddyPress plugin and help chart the future course for it.

Our initial plugin for BuddyPress includes these features:

  • optionally integrate in forum topics and posts into the BP activity stream
  • optionally share avatars between SP and BP.  Choose which to use on both or keep separate
  • optional links in the BP bar (wp or bp) to popular forum destinations
  • optional notifications in the BP bars for forum activity
  • have mentions in the forum show up in the BP mentions stream

some other functionality being considered is sharing of friends, profile integration, and more including looking at some BuddyPress plugin addons.  But that is where you guys come in.  None of us here are BuddyPress users.  Getting this plugin working was the first time I installed BuddyPress, so we want some feedback on what folks would like.

And of course, feedback on the current plugin state.

Anyone interested?  Please let us know here.  I should have a download of the plugin beta later today.

Thanks!

I manage a site that has SP & BP installed and wouldn't mind testing this plugin. Really like the idea of integrated activity and mentions. One thing I would like to note that I didn't see on the integration list is that when BP profiles are used in place of SP profiles the buttons for a users forum "topics started" & "topics posted to" should be moved into the BP profile so they can find them, least that's what I did :)

you can get the current beta version in the first post in this topic...

Thanks for offering to help...

I have just today started formulating a plan for profile stuff...  Its a bit trickier on what to do and how to handle...  Will keep your suggestion in mind - should be easy to do...

I'm getting a warning and error when posting a new forum topic with adding the activity to bp stream active-

Warning: Missing argument 2 for sp_filter_tooltip_display(), called in public_html/wp-content/sp-resources/forum-plugins/buddypress/library/sp-buddypress-activity.php on line 22 and defined in public_html/wp-content/plugins/simple-press/sp-api/sp-api-filters.php on line 1684

Fatal error: Call to undefined function groups_record_activity() in public_html/wp-content/sp-resources/forum-plugins/buddypress/library/sp-buddypress-activity.php on line 36

argh, looks like the warning is a messup, left off an argument... odd I dont get the warning though...

as a quick fix, can you change sp-buddypress-activity.php line 22 from

    $activity_content = sp_filter_tooltip_display($newpost['postcontent']);

to

    $activity_content = sp_filter_tooltip_display($newpost['postcontent'], $newpost['poststatus']);

that should handle the warning...

but the second error, I do not understand...  its a call to a standard buddypress function... not sure why it would be undefined for you (its not for me)...  which version of BP are you running?

I will upload a new version later today...
