I just had this problem on our site, and found that when I disabled the WP CKEditor plugin the issue went away. It seems unfortunately I can't use CKEditor on the rest of the WP site because it conflicts with the editor in SimplePress. Is there a work around for this problem?

would need to now more information... nothing known about an issue...

what doe that editor plugin do?  does it do anything on the front end?  unfortunately, some plugins misuse the wp editor api and assume their stuff will only get loaded in the admin on the edit post panel... but the wp editor api supports use outside the admin too...  if the plugin incorrectly assumes back end use, they may be loading it into the wp api incorrectly (ie init instead of admin_init)...

do you have any js errors shown in the browser console?

Hi, thanks for your reply.

CKEditor is a very popular WYSIWYG editor for Wordpress and replaced the default editor. It does also apply to the comments forms when it's installed.

Here's more about the editor: http://ckeditor.com/demo

When I try to upload an image I get a pop up that says "undefined is not a function" then I click okay the pop up goes away and I see this error:

http://screencast.com/t/67w63zUgqe

If I deactivate CKEditor the problem goes away.

I also turned of CKEditor so it is not used on comment forms and the Simplepress upload still failed.

Thanks.

If I recall correctly the CKEditor just replaces the built in WordPress TinyMCE editor but of course if it tries to do that with the SImple:Press instance of TinyMCE things are going to go south as the rest of Simple:Press is not expecting it.

So you have the option to not use it on comments - are there no options to turn it off elsewhere? And if not - could you ask the authors if that is going to be possible? As Steve said above, they are making the assumption that the TinyMCE editor will not be used elsewhere and by other plugins and this is a false assumption to make.

Q: So you have the option to not use it on comments – are there no options to turn it off elsewhere?

A: No, I can only turn it off on the comments.

Q: And if not – could you ask the authors if that is going to be possible?

A: I could, but it may be easier to find another WP post editor, I'm just worried that the others may conflict with Simplepress too, but won't know until it's tried.

guessing that means you dont like tinymce?

if its trashing the wp editor api stuff (dont know that it is), not much we can do about it...  plugins should only affect what they need, not universally...

if you could provide us a link, we could take a quick look and see if anything is obvious..

Hi Mr Papa,

Thanks for your follow up.

Re: if you could provide us a link, we could take a quick look and see if anything is obvious..

Okay, could you let me know what you'd like a link to exactly?

Thanks much!

I will have to read through this thread again to remind me of what has gone on so far but a membership account so that the forum can be accessed would be a good place to start...

Please PM credentials to both myself and to 'Mr Papa'. Please include in the PM a link to your site, a link to this thread and brief reminder of the problem. And one of us will take a look for you.
