Hi,

i'm using WP 2.7 with any plugins.

If i activate SPF 4.01 (incl. patch) an click articles read-more (full view), i get this:

WordPress database error:[Lost connection to MySQL server during query]
SELECT p.* FROM wp_posts AS p WHERE p.post_date < '2009-02-07 13:31:40' AND p.post_type = 'post' AND p.post_status = 'publish' ORDER BY p.post_date DESC LIMIT 1…

Inactive SPF = no problems.

I hope for helpfull answers. ;-)

Regards

Toni M.

Judging by the actual error message I suspect that your database timeout is set too low although I am a bit hazy on MySQL server side settings. I would talk to your host and see if it can be changed (if they think that is the problem).

No, the server has wide settings an he's very fast. I'm using any real 'fat' websites without such problems.

The problem ist only with active SPF.

Well you need to investigate the issue in your own environment and setup. Read the message – you "lost the connection to your database". It has nothing to do with speed or performance.
There is also a tutorial (our home page, tabbed window at the bottom – 'tutorials') which discusses ways to cut down on the number of queries being run and attempts to explain why a forum generates quite a lof of them.
I still go with my first thought – that this was a MySQL timeout.

On the same server is running a very large phpBB site with thousands of entrys and 2000 users. No problems!

Now i'm testing SPF without entries and 1 user. Very big problem!

Tell me, why this very large phpBB works fine, WP with only 50 entries and over 20 plugins works fine, but only active (and empty!) SPF shutdown mysql?

I changed max_connections to 2500 and query_cache_size to 1M. No effects.

As I said in my first reply I am not an expert on MySQL settings. This really does need to be a question for your host.

I'm having this exact same MySQL issue with simple press,  the old version 3.x I had for 18 months worked fine but I had to upgrade as I recently upgraded to WP 2.9.   Are there any additional requirements with SimplePress 4.x?

What you are getting that exact same sql message?

The 'Lost Connection' while excuting what looks like a standard WP query to get blog posts?

And I never did find out quite what he meant by 'click articles read-more (full view)'. Sadly he went away so we don't even know if he worked out the problem. Although we do know that it was outr fault. he told us so!

Do you have any other plugins that may be trying to load blog posts?
