Adding banners to site. Running into problems

I wanted to place a banner code like Adbrite or Adsense in the middle boards, but the page gets all screwed up and looks weird.  Something in the ad code is causing the board to act funky.  I also tried adding the codes into OpenX first and then added them to to the board, but that did not work either.

Any ideas on how to fix this issue?

I really need to know what you did and what the result was before I could help. And, I may be the only one on this forum who needs to ask, but what is OpenX?

Hi.  OpenX is a free ad server.  OpenX is the newest version of the old phpadsnew system.  Basically, I just paste the ad code from two different ad services into the board (my site has both Wordpress and SimpleForum migrated into one system).   Anyway, when I post the codes in, either it screws up the whole site or one ad pulls the code from the other ad and over laps it.  Its really weird on how it reacts.  I've tried multiple ad services, and when I add more than one ad, this is what happens.

In terms of placing the ad in the middle of the page or between the sub boards, its impossible.  The whole board is messed up after it.  Not sure why I cannot get it to work correctly.

Paste it where? Do you by any chance mean you paste it into a post? if so that is never going to work. You will need to use one of the program hooks – see the Plugn API section of the wiki. If, on the other hand you do not mean paste it into a post then where do you paste it? Need more detais than this…

Nor realy sure what you mean here either. SP is a WP plugin. But this is not relevanmt to the question.

No, not a post.  I posted it in the theme editor.  Do you know which hook file I should edit in order to place an ad in the child boards?

Do you mean the WP theme page template? The one that is being used for the forum?  Well depending on where you placed the code in this template that should work.

if you want to add code to a position within forum displays the hooks are better. As to which one – that is entirely up to you as it depends where you want to display the content.

Do read the instructions though. Note that you must not use 'echo' but must return content as a string.
