Critical Question for Site's Design

Hello All,

I would like to know if the below is possible with a typical WordPress and Simple:Press design:

I run a gaming community and want a visitor of the site to be able to fill out a contact form and have the ability to submit it not to an email but rather to submit it and have the contact form communicate with the Simple:Press forum and create a new thread in a pre-determined forum.

Any and all information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

To aid in responses, no I do not know of a solid contact forum plug-in to use either with the WordPress install so any suggestions are welcome. Thank you!

EDIT: Just realized I could add more that could help aid this question…

I want the "author" of these automated posts to be a certain user that I would register and name some like POSTBOT or something.

Basically, they fill out the contact form on the WordPress side of the site and then when they click submit, all the data in the contact form is formatted into a thread and posted by a certain user in a specified forum.

Thank you!

no, its not currently possible to use a contact form (or email) to post in the forum, though we do have an open ticket to add in XMLRPC support…

why would you want to use a contact form? the add topic/post is already a form and on the site… email or other XMLRPC format makes sense and would do what you want… (when supported)

if you are looking for a decent contact form for your site, I would recommend Contact Form 7.

Mr Papa,

The reason I wanted an off-forum contact form to submit the post was because it is for our application process we plan on implementing in the near future.

Thank you though.

well again, in the future when add the XMLRPC support, if you have the contact form emailed to the address for posting in the forum, it will work… the XMLRPC support wont make it into 4.2 but perhaps after that…

One last question Papa…

I'm currently in work, so this might just be my work machine. However, I notice that the load time on this forum is slow. Is the plug-in itself a process hog and slower than most forum software or is it just my work machine?

Thanks!

no, its not really a process hog. It likely runs a bit slower than a standalone forum only because of the wp overhead.

Andy and I were just commenting this morning about how our server seemed abnormally sluggish today. so we may have some server work to do…
