Forgive me if I have over looked this answer on the forums, but I would like to know if there is a method of allowing users to delete their own topics?

If so, what configuration is need to allow users to delete their own topics?

Thanks in advance.

Well – it should all be in the permission sets you have assigned to your members in the forums. Go check out the permission settings.
Interestingly enough, I have not tried this combination… personally, the thought of letting anyone delete topics seems like potential trouble!

I've had this request as well. But I don't think regular users can do this?

Only replies can be deleted. The delete option is available with topics even for non admins or mods but I think it should be hidden if it is for a topic if it does not apply anyway. It confuses the users.

I guess I am confused…  There is a permission to allow someone to delete topics.  What does delete own topic mean when there are other users post in the topics??  its no longe 'their' topic.  Its a bunch of folks topics…

If you meant posts, then there already is a permission to allow users to delete their own posts…  or a more global option to delete any post…

Yes maybe I did not explain good enough. I'm from Denmark so maybe some terms which are missing Smile

If a standard user makes a new forum post which is the first post (not a reply) he can not delete that post even if the setting delete their own posts is set. Is that not correct?

But the delete button is displayed to the user as an option in the tools. If a simple check could be made so that this was not shown as an option if it's a first post (not a reply) maybe that would be the best. I know there is a access denied message overlay message displayed if they try to delete but still… But all in all a minor thing.

Maybe the best was that the user in the case described here could delete but only until a reply was made.

Best regards Bo

that was actually a bug that has been corrected in the upcoming 4.2…  if there is just post and the user deletes, the topic will be deleted too…
