I like what I see so far in v4 on this forum. I'm looking forward to your release
.
One thing that is especially cool is the boolean controls with an X for turned off and checkmark for turned on. I'm concerned, however, that my users will be confused on how to use those since the cursor doesn't change when hovering over them. It took me a little bit to figure out that I could click on them to change their state.
I haven't installed v4 so I don't know if this is an option or not, but is there a way to make those controls more discoverable? Even changing the cursor would help. Most people know how to use a checkbox, but I know that my users will be confused by these controls.
Thanks,
David
What browser are you using please? The cursor is certainly behaving itself in Firefox/Mac…
I'm using IE7. It works, but my point is that it isn't very discoverable. How do people know that they can click on them?
But that is what the 'hand' pointer is for. Also – you can change them as you can change any graphic…
Hand graphic? I don't see a hand graphic. Does your cursor change to a hand when you hover over those controls? They don't for me on either IE7 or Firefox3/Win.
Yes of course. Also do on Safari and Opera. The fact is they are a standard link.I can not test this on IE as I do not have a PC but I am sure we can get Mr Papa to tell us what he sees on IE and other Windows browsers…

I've installed V4 on my livehost and in the admin the cursor is changing to the “hand” pointer for me in Firefox and IE7. It's also changing on this forum when I hover over links.
But I do have a little problem with the boolean controls and my login box on my left sidebar. The login box is just a code pasted into the sidebar.php, no plugin, it usually has a little box you can check/uncheck next to “Remember Me” but since I installed the V4 forum it now has the red “X” or the green checkmark image next to "Remember Me"
Why is this happening and can I take it off? I'd rather just have my original check box.
Okay, that would be good. I just tested in 5 different browsers (IE7, Firefox 3, Opera, Safari/Win, and Google Chrome) on Windows Vista and all of them behaved the same way – no change in the cursor when hovering over those controls.
David Potter: See MoneyMan08's post above yours. Maybe this is a Vista thing?
MoneyMan08: Curious and – perhaps – a little amusing! I am sure we should be able to stop that. Can you send me the code? That would help (use the code highligter button on the toolbar)
