Help with Java script

I am brand new to Simple Forum. I installed the plugin version to a self hosted Wordpress blog, version 2.9.1.

After installation, when I go to the Forum page it get this message across the top right under the "Forum" heading.  "This forum requires Javascript to be enabled for posting content".

How do I enable Javascript?  Is there an option that needs to be turned on?

Thanks for the help.

Javascript is a client side scripting engine that is run by your browser. You will need to turn it on in your browser options or preferences, It will be there smewhere as an option!
Very few people these days disable javascript as the web generally has become richer in content and more and more reliant on Javascript.

Thank you for responding so quickly.

My brower is clicked, it says Java "Sun" JRE 1.6_17 for <applet> (requires restart) .

I'll continue checking to see if something else is unchecked. I have tried it on two seperate computers.

I have tried it on both Internet Explorer and Foxfire.

Thanks,

Fred

Java and JavaScript actually have nothing to do with each other.
On the Mac version of Firefox the checkbox for JavaScript is in the 'Content' panel

Thanks for following up. Maybe it's something inside my Wordpress itself. I do have Java and Javascript both checked in the Options –>Content box in my browser and I am still getting the message when I go to the forum page on my site. I also checked the installation to the server, all the files have been created.

If you want to see the message, my site is at http://diyboost.com

The forum that is created looks great. I would really like to have it on my site and working properly. This would definitely be a great addition to the site.

Thank you so much for continuing to write back.

I believe you have another wp plugin interfering (perhaps wp-copyprotect?)… also something else has changed the class of that message too and added a drop cap class to it…

So, I would deactivate all plugins and see if the problem persists. If not, then reactivate them one by one until it breaks. then we will know the conflict.

If nothing there, might try the wp default theme and see if it persists too…

Thanks, I hadn't considered the theme or plugins. I'll try all of those and then let you know what happens.

I most probably won't be able to get back untill in the morning.

Thank you both so much for your help, this has been a great experience for me.  You are very attentive and knowledgeable, I will be sure to let everyone I know about your great plugin and awesome support.

Best regards,

Fred

You were absolutely correct, the problem is with the theme. There is no conflicts with any of the plug-in

I left the plug-ins activated and changed themes, I tried two different themes and there was no error in either of them. I will have to find a compatible theme.  The theme I am using now is Mandigo.  I like it because of it's features and included drop down menus, but it is more important to me to have a forum.

Thank you both again. It has been an absolute pleasure to see the features and support you provide.
