I cloned my site on my dedicated server to test out upgrading Wordpress from 2.6.2 to 2.9.2 and ran into a problem when I tried to upgrade SF Forum from 4.0 to 4.2.2
When I clicked on Upgrade I got the build number 1088 error, so I went into WP_Options and manually added the 1088 value but everytime I did this the upgrade would just delete the value and replace it with nothing, then I would get build number 0 error…over and over.
So currently I'm running SF 4.0 on Wordpress 2.9.2 and it works fine, are there any known issues with SF Forum and 2.9.2?
Also, can I have download links to all the SF versions from 4.0 up to 4.2.2? Maybe upgrading the forum by each version will work instead of going from 4.0 straight to 4.2.2
Your main problem with using Wp2.9 and a pre 4.1.3 version of SP is that you will not be able to access the forum admin panels because of security changes that WP made.
I will give you the links to prior version downloads below.
But… for most people who have had problems upgrading, – and there have not been that many – the issue is usually a javscript problem – a conflict or crash of jQuery most usually caused by another plugin. These people usually have a successful upgrade by briefly deactivating any plugins that load javadscript – running the forum upgrade and then reactivating their other plugins.
The download urls are:
4.1.0 – 4.1.2 – 4.1.3 – 4.2.0 – 4.2.1 – 4.2.2

Well I deactivated all plugins and tried 4.1.0 and the upgrade bar never moved, I uploaded my backup wp_options and sf forum sql file and tried to upgrade to 4.2.2 with all plugins deactivated and the default theme active and still got An Error has Occurred During the Upgrade. Not sure what to do now
do you have firefox? and the firebug addon? have that open when you try and report back on what it says…
might also check your server error logs and see if there is more info..

OfflineIn a few cases it has also been the theme that is loading rogue stuff. We have come across rather a lot of themes lately (for example) that load an old copy of jQuery from the google library. This breaks just about everythung and should be considered a crime!
So worth taking a look at your theme as well in case that is where the problems lie.

Don't know where my server error logs are.
What info from Firebug do you need? On the "DOM" page there's quite a few things in red if you want me to list them.

Where would I find out which version of jQuery the theme is loading?
I also copied over a js file from my site to wp-admin/js…is jquery-1.2.2.pack.js important at all? I call it in my theme's header.php
you added that js to the wp admin? why?
in firebug, put it on the console and try the upgrade and see what is reported…

I have no idea why I have that in the wp-admin folder lol, probably an old mistake. I call it at the bottom of my theme's header.php for some reason, I've just never deleted it because I couldn't remember what it was there for.
Firebug Console brings back a bunch of errors about "border-radius" and background colors, Error in parsing
value for 'filter', Unknown pseudo-class or
pseudo-element 'first', GET http://www.rockitmembers.us/in…..amp;start=
