and in the current version of sp, we automatically replace the wp avatar with the sp avatar if an option is selected and it does it without that query if I remember… I know you said you didnt want to upgrade, but its been handled better already…

Yeah, the theme template was modified to do that. Well I'm still using an older version of WP and I don't even think I even have WP-Avatar in the first place. Sigh…. looks like I will have to do some more customized hacking.
