Browsing my site/forumwith the iPhone I can do almost anything on the site, but for some reason when I say post new message or reply the TINYMCE box where you would type refuses to acknowledge and just sits there.

Anyone notice this or have a fix?

my guess would be lack of js support, but cant be sure. we dont officially support mobile platforms but I hear some folks use it. perhaps one of them can shed some light on this topic?

In my experience Safari on the iPhone cannot detect that this is editable field and therefore would not bring up the keyboard.
It doesn't report any errors and everything loads fine, just the textarea becomes uneditable.

It does the exact same thing on my Gphone.  Any ideas how to fix this?

suspect its a lack of javascript support on the phone… not much real estate there for tinymce and all its buttons and thingys..

try going to your spf profile page and selecting a different editor, such as normal textarea… this of course assumes the spf admin has allowed users to select their own editor preferences…

Has there been any progress on the iphone issue?  I just got the new one – never used a smart phone before and was disappointed to find out I'm not going to be able to properly monitor my forums on the go unless I continue to cart my laptop around with me…

we are not working anything for iphone currently. as the forum uses too much js and jquery.

if the issue is tinymce, have you tried switching to a simple standard text area for posts in your profile?

I don't think it's the editor so much as it just doesn't recognise the input box as an input area… I will test with another editor though

It works fine with other editors.  For now I'll have to sticky a post to alert people using iphone/mobile safari to the issue.

I don't supose it'd be possible to rig something that would automatically swtich editors for someone on a mobile device? (yeah, I know, wishful thinking :) )
