Need someone to upgrade our install of Simple Press to the newest version. Do you provide that service or can you recommend someone that could?

I am just leary about doing it myself since it seems that the 4.0.4 to the newest version is quite a bit of a project. :-)

Thanks for any recommendations.

if you follow the guidelines in the wiki 'Upgrading' article it shouldn't be that much of a problem. Simple remove the old files in the simple-forum folder and copy the new ones in. Then run the upgrade.

For the vast majority this causes no problems. For those who have had problems i has nearly always come to down to a problem with another plugin or the theme. if you are worried about that, deactivating plugins and using the WP default theme while you perform the upgrade seems to get around those sorts of issues. Oh and using a good ftp tool to upload the files to the server is recommended. Many people have problems with web based ftp apps like FileZilla.

I would really rather not do the upgrade. Is there anyone that is affiliated with you guys that could give us a quote on updating it?

its really not a big deal…  do a db backup…  remove the current simple-forum dir… upload the new one and upgrade…  of course you will need wp 3.0…

you could always post the job request in the jobs forum and see if someone takes you up on it…  unfortunatley, I seem to be working 15 hour days and cant be of much help until that slows down…
