simply remove the simple-forum directory and all its contents…  then upload the new 4.2.2 simple-forum and all its contents…  go to the forum admin and you should be prompted to upgrade…  of course this will need to be with an spf admin…

if you customized any of your spf files or skins (not options or data, but actual code files), then you will need to remake them…

also, make a db backup before proceeding in case something goes wrong…

ok so now i've managed to get it sorted. HOWEVER!

its broken my featured content gallery – check the front page of the  site: http://www.oaktree.org.uk

you wll see a blank div at on the left just above the "preaching programme" box – i'm using the featured content plugin – http://www.featuredcontentgallery.com/

 

any ideas?…again? – thanks for the help so far – you guys have been ace!

search here for a couple of hacks to get it working… personally, I junked it and wrote my own (see my cruise site in sig)… basically, featured content gallery has spotty at best compatibility with wp since it uses mootools which conflicts with jquery. and since wp (and spf) uses jquery most users end up abandoning at some point… there are several other comparable ones available that dont use moootools…

This does a better job than FCG – i also saw all your comments telling people that FCG was a bit poor. apologies if i was yet again opening a can of worms.
