I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing issues. Could you please help us with some additional information. If I am not mistaken you are trying to do an upgrade? Not a fresh install, is that correct?

• Are you using the same user that you usually do when updating?
• Does the Simple:Press menu/navigation look ok?
• Have you tried upgrading Simple:Press before you got this error message?
• Have you done any other updates lately?

Upgrade Simple:Press From Version 6.11.14 to 6.11.14 (Build 15918 to Build 15918). 

When I click upgrade, I get an error message that states I do not have permission to perform this action.

How do I solve this?

I am using wordpress Current version: 6.9.4

An empty forum page is usually related to the forum page setup rather than the forum data itself, the pages seem to load and fetch the forum titles without any issues.

Please check the following:

• Go to Forum - Integration -Page and Permalink
• Make sure the Forum Page is correctly assigned and possibly try attach the forum to another page

Quick test:

• Create a new page and call it anything
• Assign that page as the forum page under Integration - Page and Permalink

This helps confirm if the issue is related to the current page setup.

Follow up questions:

• Did the problem start around the time you changed theme? Newer themes can sometimes affect how the forum is displayed and may need some additional adjustments
• If possible, check for any PHP errors (or enable WP_DEBUG)

for my hobby website I am using WordPress and the Simple:Press forum for like twenty years now.

Since the latest WordPress updates the forum is not visible anymore, there is only an empty page with menu, header, footer.

So I changed my old WordPress theme to a new one (Twenty-Five), upgraded Simple:Press from 5.x to the latest 6.x, changed the PHP on my website from the obsolete 7.x to 8.x, but all that did not change anything. The forum is still not visible.

I am no IT professional unfortunately.

Maybe someone in here can help me?

No worries, this is an easy one. As long as you upgrade first to version 5.7.x, you’ll be fine. During 2024-2025 we have had quite a few upgrades from 5.7.x and they have all worked. But doing a test-run on a staging or test server is always a great idea.
