I just went through the importer, and it seems it all went well.

I have some cleanup to do still, but there are a few things I am wondering about:

- Does the importer move files and attachments?

- Does the importer lose anything I do not know about. Are there limitations documented somewhere? Can you let me know where so I know what I should be doing manually?

- And last, once I moved, the links do not work anymore. If I am logged in, I can only navigate to the forums through the drop downs on the top of the forum page. If I log out, the links work and I can click on a forum title and go to it. Anything I am missing?

I want to get the current state working before I move with the membership purchase for extending the functionality. Trying to keep it simple until I am able to move it to the original state it was in phpbb.

thanks,

Hassane

As I know it states somewhere ion the help panels -  am afraid not - that can be very hard to do. But - if the original was on the same server and depending on how attachments are linked to in posts they may still be valid links. I am unsure about phpBB as I know it does sometimes embed some very strange data in posts.

The importer attempts to import all user data (as relevant to a WordPress site), your forum groups, forums, topics and posts. It does not attempt to import any added items your source forum may provide (such as private messages for example). If any data could not be correctly interpreted then this will usually be listed at the end of the process as a failure.

- And last, once I moved, the links do not work anymore. If I am logged in, I can only navigate to the forums through the drop downs on the top of the forum page. If I log out, the links work and I can click on a forum title and go to it. Anything I am missing?

Depends. The first thing to say is that the slug to the WordPress page (which defaults at install to /forum) MUST be unique - no other pages or posts can have the same name. Also if you have a sub-folder in your site with this name then WordPress will get confused and try and run from there instead - causing 404 issues at the best. If problems persist then update the WordPress permalinks and then go to the forum admin > Integration > Page and Permalink panel - ensure the page is seleceted at the top and then update the forum permalinks using the button half way down.

I want to get the current state working before I move with the membership purchase for extending the functionality. Trying to keep it simple until I am able to move it to the original state it was in phpbb.

Hassane

 Hope that all helps.
