depends what you mean by is it compatible with BuddyPress... they coexist together just fine... We also have a buddypress integration plugin for simple press that allows sharing of profile information, avatars, activity stream, and more...
as to the Boss theme, not sure what that is... But simple press works with just about any wp theme... forum display is simply on a wp page... so whatever page template you use for that wp page will govern how it appears on the page...
now, very few wp themes have specific styling for a simple press forum.. so we provide a variety of themes and color overlays for you choose from... to perfectly match the color style of your wp theme, you might want to customize your sp theme... but customizing your sp theme is like customizing a wp theme...

Sounds like the plugin will take care of what I was wanting for integration with BuddyPress. I will spend some time with installing today.

FYI: Out of the box SimplePress does not work with the Boss theme… It works on cell phone size but does a weird thing in desktop size where the top menu bar of the theme is stuck about 3/4 the way down the pages.

Really hate getting stuck using bbpress but looks like I have no choice. I am sure that your forums work well with other themes but I am unable to switch to a different theme at this time.

yes, simple press works with any standard wp theme properly following the wp api and standards...

The top menu bar of the BuddyBoss Boss theme is no longer at the top of a page. Instead it is displayed about 3/4 the way down the page no matter where the page is scrolled up or down.
Unfortunately I had to remove the plugin from my main site.
I did mention this problem at the developers site. Not sure if they will be putting any effort to resolve this as they replied to another person that "SimplePress is not compatible with their theme."
I will for sure down the road re-check if anyone has found a solution to the problem at their site.

would have to be able to inspect the css - likely just a greedy css rule in the wp theme which could be countered in the forum...
