A quick update to 5.6 – 5.6.1 – has been released today to correct a small handful of things that were, shall we say, not quite right.
- WordPress has changed the way page titles can be generated. We missed this one. We would have found out when looking at the latest WP default theme – twenty-sixteen – but unusually they have not yet placed this in the source control (svn) version that we use to keep up to date so it passed us by.
- Changes we made to bring new installs for WP Multisite up to date had an unwanted effect on much older, existing installs – again because of more recent changes within the WP core.
- And for some reason I forgot that setting a php variable to false does not necessarily give it the value of zero. It is just as likely to be empty!
Important enough to warrant a quick update alongside one or two more minor fixes and changes that had already been committed. We apologise for anyone who was affected by the above.
